Garage Workshop Cave
I'm new to the Mancave site but I have been working on my garage cave for the past 2 years. It has taken so long because I’m cheap. About 90% of the fixtures in my cave have been “Urban Foraged” a.k.a. “Garbage Picked”.
I know what some are thinking Garbage Picked!, but this is really my dream cave. I have everything a cave dweller needs. I have tunes, TV, DVD, VCR, satellite radio, neon lights, overhead lighting, and a large refrigerator filled with plenty of beer.
The cave is my dream shop. Friends come over and we shot the sh#t, drink plenty of beer, listen to tunes, and work on projects.
Most still remember when the cave was just a dream. I was storing items I found in my friends garages, sheds, and yards until it was built.
I have a few pictures of the cave as of August 11, 2009. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy being in it.

Shoestringshop,
Great Job!
FYI...most cave are put together on a "shoestring" and getting stuff where ever they can find it. Some of the best finds are stuff people are tossing. Keep up the great work and enjoy a few colds ones for me!
Cave On!

Re: Garage Workshop Cave
Well done shoestring, well done. My garage/cave/workshop is built on the same idea. Triple duty, does them all well. NEVER apologize for your cave. It's just not the manly way.

Re: Garage Workshop Cave
Blake,
I would "NEVER apologize for my workshop cave" I love it! I'm the king in my cave.
I really take pride in what I have accomplished by “Urban Foraging” and buying at flee markets and yard sales. The items would be too expensive otherwise. I spent money when needed like on the paint, fans, insulation, and epoxy flooring.
For anyone interested in a few finds and cheap shopping check this out…
Work bench, cabinets, pegboard, shelving, racking units, swivel lamps, 3 neon signs, and many others were “Free”.
Components on the entertainment center were a total of $66.00 and that includes 4 Bose model 100 speakers.
CHEAP is good. Besides a little dirt could never hurt us cave dwellers.

Hello All
Web site was down for a bit, but all is good. This cold Chicago winter is not good for the cave. I did bring my Weber grill into the cave and installed a range hood so I can grill. I will post some pictures soon. Hope everyone is doing well this winter.

Re: Garage Workshop Cave
Thanks, It works good
. I made it so I can take it down when it gets a bit warmer out (it is 28°F out now). My wife and my aunts think I am crazy, but they don't say a word when they are eating some food off the grill. It is really cool when all the hens are in the house and us guys are in the cave using the grill, listening to some tunes, or watching some DVDs. We even get a few projects done from time to time out in the workshop cave.

Re: Garage Workshop Cave
Love it! Until I move in a few years mine will remain about the same. Work on the truck, woodworking, darts and a place to hang out, party or kick it with a ball game. Great use of the garage man!
