New Member & A/C Question
Hey everyone!
Me and the family just bought a new house here in Texas. Nice home and a very nice garage. My wife "awarded" me a mancave in the garage. She did mention that she needed one side for her car incase of bad weather, etc......
Anyways, I plan on building a wet bar with about 4-5 bar stools. Behind it, I plan on having a couch or seating area with a TV. I would like to add a ping pong table or pool/poker table.
Ill get to my question, since it is a garage it gets very hot. Especially in this Texas heat. Any suggestions to make this a much cooler, comfortable area??
Thanks everyone! AWESOME SITE!

My AC solution
Jack, here's what I did in my 2 car cave. First, insulate the garage. There are many alternatives to expensive jobs, I blew in insulation in the attic space, lots of it. It's cheap from Lowes, and if you buy X # of bags they'll loan you the machine free. Even if you return bags, but don't. You can never have enough insulation. It's a 2 man job, one to blow, one to load the machine. It'll take 30 min. start to finish. You can do the walls, but it's a little more money and expertise. I haven't yet, but I'm going to.
The idea is insulation will help you retain heat and AC. Very important. Then I bought an 18000 btu combo AC heat window unit. It's 220V and cools/heats the cave well. I'm in NC, so similar climate. Good luck.
